This Tour is focused on Gabriela Mistral’s life, Chilean poet and prominent Nobel prize 1945. Through this route we’ll know how this woman, author of beautiful and remembered verses, lived in his region … Star Region.
We begin by the visit to La Casona de las Palmeras, a historical monument where Gabriela Mistral lived for years with her sisters and her mother. Following with our journey towards the city of Vicuna, in the Elqui Valley, where we will know the Gabriela Mistral Museum, This museum is dedicated entirely to the life and work of the Chilean poet. We will continue with a visit to the High School for Girls in Vicuña, where Lucila Godoy (Gabriela Mistral real name) studied in 1900. That building now run the House of Culture and the Library of Vicuña.
Then we’ll have a delicious lunch in the town of Villaseca, a few minutes of Vicuña. The Villaseca Solar Restaurant is noted for its elaborate meals in innovative solar cookers. We will finish our tour with the visit to Gabriela Mistral House-School, this place is today an attractive museum and his tomb.
